Halls Gap

We are so glad that Halls Gap was recommended to us. We had no initial plans to go there as our destination was Horsham first. Halls Gap is this little hamlet in the Grampians Mountains Range. We didn't know what to expect, but our expectations were exceeded in a truly wonderful style.
We will post pictures as soon as we can get to a hardwired internet connection.
We had our first encounter with kangaroos and we saw a deer that we didn't even know existed. It was incredible.
The landscape was very forested and it seemed not like any part of Australia.
We will fill in the gaps later.

Here's a funny story to add... We stayed only one night in Halls Gap. On the morning we were to leave, while I was in the shower Mark was getting the motor home all packed up from the outside. He told me he came around the back of the unit to gather up the electrical cord and out of nowhere a Kookaburra was flying towards him. They were both shocked to find the other in the way... Well the Kookaburra was so shocked that it splatted itself into the side of the motor home. It was not hurt and it bounced off and flew away in a state of awwwwwwkkkkkk!!!!!
This is the result of the splat on the 'van'.

You can see the feather marks on the left, the body mark in the middle and the tail on the bottom.
I imagine it was pretty funny for Mark to see. But not so funny for the Kookaburra... LOL...

  1. Hey you two yoots!! What an awesome awesome trip!!! I have read all of your blog (sorry had to catch up) and am so unbelievably jealous I can't even begin to tell you. Good for you both, I am inspired!! We moved since you've been gone & are living in a hotel now in Sudbury (kinda feels like your camper probably does only WITH a cat!! ) = ] Bought a house & get it on the 27th of April. Love you & Love the story...best read I've had in a very long time! The Apostles are my favorite so far.
