Yulara / Uluru / Ayers Rock

Today is April 3rd I believe. We are at Uluru and are leaving for Wycliffe Well in the morning. So beautiful and so hot!!! The temp the last two days has been between 37c and 41c.  HOT!!!!!!
More pictures and stories soon.

Kata Tjuta.... pronounced  Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)..

Desert rain storm - from a small hill at the edge of our caravan park 9kms away from Uluru.

There is so much to say about Uluru.. It is a magical place. So sacred for the Aborigines... I am not sure I can convey the proper words and emotions on seeing this great ancient monument. I was in tears when we left and wasn't able to speak for almost 15 minutes...

We didn't climb Uluru out of respect for the aboriginal guides that work there. Apparently, if someone is killed or injured on Uluru, the aboriginals feel responsible and can mourn the death for up to one year..
Besides, it's a real dangerous biatch of a climb - pictures to come.
It is truly magnificent and we again feel very privileged to have been there and experienced its wonder..
Yulara is a town of about 1000 +/- created exclusively for the purpose of the tourists for Uluru and Kata Tjuta. It is a compact resort with almost everything you would need. Anyone wanting to work there has to live there, anyone living there has to be working in Yulara and they have accommodation buildings set apart and away from the main resort itself.

Camel ride at Uluru. An absolute blast!

Getting all ready to head out.

 On the trail.. So beautiful..

There is a Perrentie on the trunk of the tree.

Such a surreal backdrop - Kata Tjuta 20 kms away.

Giving Mark's camel - Lazy Daisy -  a nervous head rub...
