Mildura

We came to Mildura to see the infamous Murray River and to take a river cruise on a paddle boat. The weather has been heating up lately and the day of the cruise it was almost sweltering. Well, by our standards anyway. There has been a rain system following us for days and this was a really hot and sunny day on the river. Fabulous.

Baronga NSW, the north side of the Murray River, across from Mildura Victoria. The state line is the southern low water mark of the river,

After we left Mildura we headed north for Broken Hill. We wanted to see the confluence of the Darling and Murray rivers so we went to north to Wentworth.

 The parking sign in the parking lot... I thought we were all on the British English dictionary of spelling.

 If you look just below the reflection of the trees you can see the dark but clear colour of the water of the Darling river meeting the muddy murky water of the Murray river.

Then we continued on our journey.

We stopped at a grocery store and bought food for a few days as we thought the prices would start to get even more expensive as we headed into the outback. We bought a good amount of vegetables for salads because we knew it would just be too hot to have a lot of cooked meals.

Well weren't we surprised and shocked to see along the highway north of Wentworth, heading towards Broken Hill, these types of signs;

We were totally confused and weren't sure what to do. One sign said there were bins ahead but we didn't see it and we took our fruit and veggies into Broken Hill. We ate them straight away that day and then bought more for the trip to Port Augusta. Little did we know that 60 or 70 miles out of Broken Hill, the same types of signs were posted, and this time there was a disposal bin a few kilometers ahead and we had to throw out almost $16.00 worth of fruit and vegetables. When I researched this trip I did not once come across any fruit quarantine advisories. Such a waste of food.
